I am the Teacher Librarian at a K-6 elementary school. The focus of our school year is 6 Trait Writing. My job as the librarian is to help teachers find books that cover the 6 Traits. The traits are; idea development, organization, word choice, voice, and sentence fluency. I have been working on the library collection and books which are prominent in using the traits. I have listed a few of my suggestions which I hope you will be able to use.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs- Barrett-focus trait-organization support trait-word choice
Diary of A Worm- Cronin- focus trait-idea development support trait- voice
Enemy Pie- Munson- focus trait-idea development support trait-organization
How I Became a Pirate-Shannon focus trait- organization support trait-sentence fluency
Because of Winn Dixie- DiCamillo - foucus trait-voice support trait -organization
Pink and Say- Polacco- focus trait-organization support trait-voice
Double Identity- Haddix- focus trait-voice support trait-sentence fluency
Our school worked with the training through Northwest Writing Lab http://www.nwrel.org
You need to become very familiar with your collection as the majority of the traits fit into virtually every book you have in the library, however, you want to use the books where the traits are very easy to observe.
